Jan Rosenberg is a former career sociology professor who transformed a research sabbatical into an active quest to build and enhance her home neighborhood of Ditmas Park. Inspired by her sociological research and her experience as a home owner for over 20 years, Jan founded Friends of Cortelyou in 2001 to improve the commercial strip of Cortelyou Road and reinvigorate the neighborhood. This venture lead to the successful opening of Brooklyn Hearth Realty in 2004. As an academic, activist and entrepreneur, Jan is a known local fixture and has served as a spokesperson for The New York Times and other publications on Ditmas Park and the adjacent neighborhoods. She brings her signature passion and insight to co-ops, condos, Victorian homes, multi-family and commercial buyers and sellers. Jan has recently focused her efforts on Newkirk and Church Avenues, hoping to spread the commercial success of Cortelyou to the broader neighborhood.
Jan and her husband still reside in their original Ditmas Park Victorian home and have welcomed their sons and growing families into the neighborhood as well.
